Farm to school conference goers and organizers shared in the excitement last Wednesday, May 27th, 2015 at Pennington Bio-medical Center in Baton Rouge for the first Louisiana Statewide Farm to School Conference. The theme, "Connecting Farms, Schools and Communities" brought together a large audience representing teachers, farmers, child nutrition directors, chefs, policy makers, government representatives and other important advocates from the farm to school movement.
The Louisiana Statewide Farm to School Conference was made possible from a USDA Farm to School grant awarded to LSU AgCenter to aid in expanding the farm to school movement in Louisiana. There will be three regional meetings held in July as a follow up to the conference addressing specific technical assistance / training needs that were identified during the conference.
The three regional meetings (Southeast Louisiana, Central Louisiana and Northern Louisiana) will be organized by the LSU AgCenter and geared toward the unique needs of each region, as identified by conference attendees during the regional breakout sessions last week. For more information on the regional farm to school meetings please contact Ann Savage with the LSU AgCenter at email@example.com
