Participants in this webinar will learn about the mineral cycle in a mature forage system, improving wildlife habitat, and how to efficiently and economically provide fence and water to enable grazing of Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) fields.
Many CRP fields have been idle for several years. Participants will learn about the mineral cycle in CRP fields and how livestock grazing can improve the typically slow mineral cycling in these fields. Participants will gain understanding of what is required to achieve adequate animal performance on what is typically a very mature forage base. Lack of fence and water are two things preventing producers from grazing CRP fields, so the discussion will include how to efficiently and economically fence the fields and provide livestock water.
